Becoming an expert takes some time and effort. No one rises to power overnight. In fact, many people never reach there at all. Becoming an expert requires that we go through a journey of pain and learning. The resources at our disposal often determine our success. “What resources?”, you may ask. 

This week, Paintucation Owner Kevin Tetz joins us for part 2 on another interesting conversation about becoming a better version of yourself. Meet Kevin:

Kevin Neils Tetz grew up elbows deep in Musclecars, trucks, and automotive restoration. Being a gearhead was a childhood birthright and obsession shared with his older brother and three cousins that grew up in his uncle’s salvage business.  Through High school, Kevin rebuilt his first several vehicles including a 49 GMC truck, a 68 Ford Fairlane, a 62 F-100, and a 58 F-100, in between band practices and gigs in various Rock and roll bands, which is Kevin’s second passion.   

After years of traveling, performing, and recording music throughout the United States and Canada,  Kevin decided to settle in the Nashville Tennessee area and put down some roots, falling back on his automotive background and experience. After gaining his ASE, ICAR, PPG, &  SIKKENS certification as a collision repair tech, painter, and shop manager as well as operating his own restoration shop, Kevin Launched PAINTUCATION Instructional DVD’s in 1999, producing the award-winning Paintucation instructional series focusing on fundamental automotive restoration and refinishing techniques. Kevin has also enjoyed writing technical articles for magazines including Nashville Arts, Southern & Northern Rodder, Mustang & Fords, Car Craft, Chevy High Performance, and Mustang Monthly.   

Kevin has been a frequent guest expert on several Automotive “How To” shows, and has hosted his own TV series for different networks since 2003 including three seasons of  CLASSIC RIDES” on DIY Network, guess appearances on Spike Networks “Search and Restore”  as well as nine seasons of hosting and co-producing the popular “TRUCKS! TV” and Truck-Tech series on SPIKE, CBS Sports, and NBC Sports networks.  Kevin is continually adding to the Paintucation library of DVDs and tutorial videos. And has worked closely with the Eastwood Company as a spokesperson and consultant, as well as co-producing and starring in the popular online TV series “Hands-On-Cars” in 2015. 

Kevin holds a US patent for tool design and is currently developing training guides and hand tools for autobody and restoration work. Kevin & Paintucation LLC is developing a curriculum for “hands-on” training classes for a future private training center in Tennessee.
