Baked Beans with Venison

Give your baked beans dish a twist with venison, elk, moose, or other favorite meat. It’s filling, delicious, and a crowd-pleaser that goes quickly.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground venison, elk, moose, or similar meat
  • 1-15 oz. can of drained and rinsed red kidney beans
  • 1- 15 oz. can of pork and beans (I love the Bush’s brand)
  • 1 pound of chopped-up peppered bacon
  • ½ of a chopped yellow onion
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup regular sugar
  • 2 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. of your favorite mustard
  • ½ cup of ketchup

Directions

1) Cook the bacon until almost done in a Dutch Oven.

2) Remove the bacon and leave it undrained. Cook the burger in the bacon grease and Dutch Oven until browned.

3) Return all of your meat to the Dutch Oven and add your beans.

4) Add the rest of your ingredients and stir.

5) Cook at 350-degrees for a minimum of 1-hour. Cover your Dutch Oven while cooking to retain more moisture.

6) Serve up your dish with freshly baked bread, rolls, and butter. It tastes incredibly delicious with French or Sourdough bread.

This Baked Beans with Venison dish goes fast! Consider doubling up the recipe to make it last. If you’re not a bacon fan, go with ½ of what this recipe calls for. But it’s a fantastic dish and tastes perfect as is.
